Armed Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit on Dublin Motorway

A man in his 20s has been arrested following a dramatic high-speed pursuit on the M4 motorway in Dublin. The incident unfolded on the morning of November 1, 2025, when Gardai received reports of a male driver allegedly armed with a firearm.

Officers were alerted to the situation at approximately 09:00 local time, prompting an immediate response. Gardai located the suspect’s vehicle and initiated a managed containment operation to ensure public safety. This operation culminated in the interception of the car and its driver in the Tallaght area shortly after 10:30.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody at the scene. During the arrest, Gardai recovered an imitation firearm. He is currently being held at a Garda Station in County Kildare under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.

Although the pursuit caused minor damage to two Garda vehicles, there were no serious injuries reported. According to a Garda spokesperson, “No one required immediate medical attention.”
