A significant fire broke out at the Celtic Supporters Club in Ayrshire, Scotland, late on February 2, 2024, prompting the closure of the adjacent Rivergate Shopping Centre. The blaze originated at the former Forum shopping centre on West Road in Irvine around 23:30 local time, leading to a large-scale emergency response.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service quickly mobilized six fire engines and two high-reach vehicles to combat the flames. As of 08:00 on February 3, the firefighting operation has been scaled back to three appliances, although the fire remains active but has significantly diminished since the initial outbreak.

Witness accounts indicate that flames were visible consuming the roof of the Supporters Club, which is part of the Forum structure. Local residents expressed concern about the potential for a gas explosion and debated whether the fire might have been deliberately set. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Fire crews continue to monitor the situation, and residents are advised to avoid the area. A spokesperson for the fire service confirmed, “We received the first call at 23:34 last night, which reported a building fire at the Celtic supporters club. The situation has been managed, and no casualties have been reported.”

The Rivergate Shopping Centre announced that it would remain closed to the public as a precaution. Only the Asda and the external Greggs unit will operate as usual. Shoppers who typically use the mall to access nearby transport or offices are encouraged to seek alternative routes.

In a statement, the shopping centre management said, “There is currently no access through the Rivergate, and all stores will remain closed at the moment. Emergency services are on-site, and the centre will reopen when it is safe to do so. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.”

Authorities, including Police Scotland, have been contacted for further updates. The situation continues to develop, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
