Taskmaster’s Alex Horne Hints at Format Changes for Upcoming Series
Alex Horne, co-creator and host of the hit show Taskmaster, has hinted at potential format changes for an upcoming series. During an appearance at the Radio Times Covers Party 2026, Horne teased fans with the promise of “something up our sleeve” that could alter the show’s structure. While he remained tight-lipped about the specifics, he suggested that the changes would be intriguing and are planned for the “near-ish future.”
When questioned about possible new features, Horne referenced inquiries he received regarding a potential “Champion of Champion of Champions” format. Instead of this, he hinted at a different approach, stating, “We’ve got something up our sleeves in the near-ish future, of doing a slightly interesting series. It’s just some tweaks, but I can’t say any more than that.” Fans are eager to see how these modifications will manifest in future episodes.
Future of Taskmaster and Upcoming Season
As Taskmaster prepares for its much-anticipated season 21, Horne reflected on the longevity of the series. He noted that he and fellow co-creator Greg Davies would continue as long as the experience remains enjoyable. “Greg and I have always said we’ll stop when we’re not having fun anymore. We’re having a lot of fun at the moment, but also, there’s a bit of leave them wanting more,” Horne explained.
Before fans can experience these new developments, they can look forward to the upcoming season, which promises memorable moments. Horne specifically mentioned an incident involving actor Kumail Nanjiani that he believes could become iconic in Taskmaster history. “There is a moment involving Kumail Nanjiani. I don’t want to give much away, but he gives a lot away about what he does by himself in his hotel room,” Horne teased. This revelation hints at an entertaining and potentially surprising scene that viewers will not want to miss.
While an official release date for Taskmaster season 21 has not yet been announced, the cast has been revealed to include notable names such as Armando Iannucci, Joel Dommett, Amy Gledhill, and Joanna Page. The series will air later this year on Channel 4 in the UK and will be available on the official Taskmaster YouTube channel for international audiences.
As anticipation builds, fans can stay updated on the latest developments and ensure they do not miss any episodes by adding Taskmaster to their watchlist on the Radio Times: What to Watch app, which offers daily recommendations and features. The excitement surrounding this beloved show continues to grow, with expectations high for both the new format and the upcoming season.
