Laura Loomer Declares She Will Not Vote in 2026, Criticizes GOP

Laura Loomer, a prominent figure within the right-wing movement, has announced that she will not participate in the upcoming 2026 elections. This declaration follows her escalating discontent with former President Donald Trump and the broader MAGA movement. Loomer expressed her frustrations through a series of social media posts, criticizing the Republican Party for its perceived role in what she termed the “Islamification” of America.
Her comments were prompted by an announcement made by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, regarding a new facility being established by the Qatari Emiri Air Force at the Mountain Home Air Base in Idaho. Loomer vehemently opposed this development, stating, “I didn’t vote for the Islamification of my country.” She voiced her concerns about allowing military bases on U.S. soil to be associated with Qatar, a nation she accuses of funding groups such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
In her posts, Loomer questioned the decision to train Qatari forces, referencing the September 11 attacks as a cautionary tale. “Why are we encouraging more Islamic infiltration of our country?” she asked, emphasizing her belief that such alliances pose a threat to national security. Her remarks reflect a deep-rooted skepticism towards Qatar, which she has criticized in the past for its foreign policy and human rights record.
Rifts Within the MAGA Movement
Loomer’s dissatisfaction extends beyond the military partnership with Qatar. She has increasingly found herself at odds with several key figures within the MAGA faction, including former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Previously, she labeled Carlson “Tucker Qatarlson,” accusing him of being influenced by Qatari interests. “I pity everyone who has fallen for his Islamic propaganda. It’s sickening. He is owned by Muslims,” Loomer stated, showcasing her unwavering stance against what she perceives as Islamic influence in American politics.
On the day of Hegseth’s announcement, he was accompanied by Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Qatari Minister of Defense. Al Thani expressed his enthusiasm for deepening ties between the United States and Qatar, a sentiment that Loomer finds troubling. “Qatar is one of the largest funders of Islamic terror. Now they are being rewarded by getting a Qatari Air Force Base in Idaho?” she remarked, further solidifying her opposition to the collaboration.
Loomer’s statements reflect a broader unease among certain segments of the Republican Party regarding foreign alliances and domestic security. She articulated her disillusionment with the GOP, stating, “I will never support this. I did not vote for the U.S. to be turned into a Muslim country. I did not vote for jihadi ambassadors.”
Implications for Future Elections
Loomer’s decision not to vote in 2026 may resonate with some voters who share her concerns about immigration and national security. Her outspoken views have garnered both support and criticism within the right-wing community. As the political landscape continues to evolve, her stance could influence the discourse surrounding the Republican Party’s direction and its engagement with international partnerships.
As Loomer navigates her discontent with key Republican figures, her future involvement in the party remains uncertain. With the 2026 elections on the horizon, her declaration serves as a stark reminder of the divisions that can emerge within political movements, especially regarding foreign policy and national identity.
