Model’s Harrowing Journey: Botched Surgeries Cost £43,000

A model’s experience with botched cosmetic surgeries in Turkey has led to significant financial and physical repercussions, costing her over £43,000 to rectify the mistakes. Alanna Pow, a former flight attendant, underwent two Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs) in Turkey, only to find herself unable to sit for weeks due to the complications that arose from the procedures.

Initially, the 22-year-old was optimistic about having surgery abroad, drawn in by the allure of discounted prices. However, her first procedure resulted in severe dissatisfaction, with Alanna describing her thighs as “butchered” after too much fat was removed. This left her feeling insecure and ultimately prompted her to seek corrective surgery back home in Australia.

After spending £18,000 and taking two taxing trips of over 6,500 miles, Alanna decided to return to Australia for what she hopes will be her final BBL. “I wouldn’t recommend Turkey – I feel like I’ve been botched,” she said. With over three million followers on Instagram, Alanna aims to caution others against the pitfalls of opting for cheaper cosmetic surgery overseas.

Alanna’s experience highlights the stark differences in post-operative care between Turkey and Australia. In Turkey, she spent three nights in a hospital with round-the-clock nursing care. Upon returning to Australia for her third surgery, she was discharged just two hours post-operation, receiving only oral painkillers for her recovery.

“The first doctor took too much fat from my lower thighs and left them wavy,” Alanna explained. “I only went to that clinic because I had seen another influencer go there, and it was ridiculously easy to book. Within a month, I was under the knife.”

The second clinic in Turkey offered a nose job as part of the BBL package, further enticing her. While the rhinoplasty healed well, the complications from the BBL procedures left lasting issues. Alanna noted, “In Turkey, they told me to get two massages a week after the first fortnight. In Australia, my surgeon insisted on daily lymphatic massages for six weeks, which adds thousands on top of the surgery cost.”

Despite the hefty financial burden, Alanna feels her latest corrective surgery was worth the investment. “He fixed my legs, made my hips wider, and my waist smaller,” she said. “The results speak for themselves.” The Australian surgeon employed advanced techniques, including Vaser liposuction, which tightens the skin, a method she felt was lacking in her previous procedures.

Now, with newfound confidence, Alanna reflects on her journey and encourages others to consider the risks associated with discount surgeries abroad. “It’s so much easier to book abroad – but that’s the problem. In Australia, you have to jump through hoops, answer mental health questions, and even have a cooling-off period. It’s stricter, but it means you get the right results,” she stated.

While she does not regret her choices, Alanna wishes she had taken a more cautious approach initially. Her experience serves as a cautionary tale for those considering cosmetic surgery, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing safety and quality over cost.
