Virgin Media Launches Record Low Prices for Broadband Plans
Virgin Media has introduced unprecedented pricing for its fibre broadband plans, marking a significant shift in the competitive landscape of internet services. The provider has reduced the cost of its M500 Fibre Broadband plan to an all-time low of £27.99 per month, delivering download speeds of 516Mbps. Additionally, the Gig1 Fibre Broadband plan, which offers an even faster 1,130Mbps, is now available for £29.99 per month. These price reductions are touted as the lowest ever offered by Virgin Media.
Customers opting for either plan will also enjoy a complimentary subscription to Netflix Standard with Ads, a benefit that was previously reserved for Virgin’s higher-tier TV bundles. This offer translates to a savings of approximately £143.76 over the duration of Virgin’s 24-month contract compared to direct Netflix subscriptions. Furthermore, those choosing the Gig1 plan will receive Virgin’s WiFi guarantee, typically priced at an extra £8. This guarantee includes a £100 bill credit if speeds fall below 30Mbps in any room.
While Virgin Media is making headlines with these competitive offers, it also provides lower-tier packages for customers not requiring the highest speeds. For instance, a plan offering 132Mbps is available for £23.99, although it does not include the Netflix subscription.
Price Increases on the Horizon
It is important for potential customers to be aware that Virgin Media, like many providers, implements annual price increases. The company has already announced that customers on the £27.99 plan will see their monthly bills rise to £31.99 starting from April 2026 and £35.99 from April 2027. This pattern of price adjustments is common across the industry and may influence consumer decisions.
Comparative Offers from Competitors
Virgin Media’s latest deals are positioned to compete directly with similar offerings from other providers. For example, Sky includes Netflix in its Sky Stream packages; however, their 900Mbps broadband option costs £40 per month. In contrast, BT’s offerings start at £28.99 for a mere 150Mbps, making Virgin’s packages particularly attractive.
Customer feedback on Virgin Media’s service reflects a mix of satisfaction and areas for improvement. The company has garnered thousands of positive reviews on Trustpilot, with one user stating: “The service has been faultless for the last 18 months and the broadband is easily fast enough for our family.” Another review highlighted the reliability of the service: “My internet and TV almost never go down, and if they do, it’s always fixed within a couple of hours.”
Nevertheless, some reviews indicate room for enhancement in customer service. One mixed three-star review noted the excellent broadband speed but criticized the customer service. In contrast, a five-star review praised both speed and service: “Brilliant speeds and great customer service, have been with these guys for 15 years. Had an issue and it was resolved in 24 hours.”
With these new offerings, Virgin Media is poised to attract new customers while maintaining a strong presence in the competitive broadband market.
