Over 120 Attend Premiere of Local Mountain Biking Film
A vibrant community gathered in Machynlleth on December 6, 2023, as over 120 attendees filled the Tabernacle for the premiere of the film Dyfi Groms. This engaging documentary showcases the inspiring stories of local young people who are passionate about mountain biking and highlights the significance of the local cycling scene.
The premiere featured a public screening of the film, followed by a Q&A session with the young individuals involved in the project. Their perspectives added depth to the event, allowing attendees to connect personally with the film’s narrative. A spokesperson for the Trailrippers Project CIC remarked, “It was a great turnout on Saturday night, where we showed five short films around the topic of mountain biking to a packed Tabernacle.”
The event not only celebrated local talent but also served a greater purpose. Funds raised from the screening, along with a Bring and Buy Sale held the following day, totaled over £700. This money will support both the production of the film and the initiatives of the Trailrippers Project CIC, which aims to promote mountain biking among a more diverse audience.
The Trailrippers Project CIC is dedicated to providing opportunities for young people to engage in mountain biking, fostering inclusivity within the sport. By raising awareness and funds, the project aims to make cycling accessible to all, encouraging a new generation of riders.
Reflecting on the event, the spokesperson noted the importance of community support: “Over 120 people came to the premiere of Dyfi Groms along with all members of the cast, who did a Q&A session after the film.” The enthusiasm displayed by the attendees underscores the community’s commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting active lifestyles.
For those interested in supporting the film and the Trailrippers Project, donations can be made through their Crowdfunding page. This initiative not only empowers local youth but also enriches the cultural fabric of Machynlleth, making it a significant event for both the community and the mountain biking scene.
