Former Love Island Star Katie Salmon Convicted of Assault

Former reality television star Katie Salmon has been found guilty of assault following a violent incident involving her boyfriend’s second girlfriend. The incident occurred on the streets of Kettering, Northampton, where Salmon, who is known for her appearance on the second season of ITV‘s *Love Island*, attacked Jyssica Memory in a confrontation fueled by jealousy.
The court proceedings revealed that the 29-year-old Salmon ambushed Memory after discovering that she was in a relationship with her partner, Anthony Kelly. Evidence presented at Northampton Crown Court on July 11, 2023, detailed how Salmon allegedly used a hairdryer and a stiletto shoe to assault Memory, who was waiting outside a friend’s house at the time. Witnesses reported seeing Salmon kick and punch Memory approximately ten times.
During the attack, Salmon was heard shouting, “Did you really think you were going to Thailand with my husband?” while Kelly reportedly encouraged her actions, using derogatory language towards Memory. The verbal abuse escalated to threats, with Kelly allegedly stating, “just kill her, I wish this b***h would die,” and other aggressive remarks recorded during the confrontation.
Details of the Assault and Court Proceedings
The altercation left Memory with severe injuries, including two black eyes and clumps of hair torn from her head. Prosecutor Quiana Fitzpatrick described the attack as a “planned ambush,” asserting that Salmon and Kelly had conspired to confront Memory. Video footage shown to the jury depicted the aftermath, with Memory’s belongings strewn across the street.
In her defense, Salmon claimed she was the victim of the situation, alleging that Memory struck her with the hairdryer first, resulting in a split lip that required seven stitches. Her current partner, Joe Rossi, supported her in court but was removed for disrupting proceedings when confronted with images of Salmon’s injuries.
Despite Salmon’s claims of being provoked, the jury delivered a guilty verdict for assault causing actual bodily harm. The court has scheduled her sentencing for September 15, 2023.
Background and Aftermath
The relationship dynamics involving Kelly, Salmon, and Memory added complexity to the case. Kelly had been in a relationship with Salmon for four years and was reportedly also seeing Memory, leading to tensions that culminated in the violent encounter. Tragically, Kelly, who had a daughter with Salmon, died by suicide in Thailand shortly after the events unfolded.
Salmon, a content creator on OnlyFans, expressed her intent to confront Memory about her relationship with Kelly on the night of the attack. This confrontation was apparently spurred by jealousy and the desire to “set the record straight.”
Legal representatives for Salmon argued that conflicting accounts of the event suggest she was manipulated by Kelly, who they claimed orchestrated the confrontation. The defense stated, “Without wanting to speak ill of the dead, he appears to have been playing both of them like fiddles.”
The case highlights the intense emotional turmoil and complicated interpersonal relationships that can arise from reality television fame. As the court prepares for sentencing, the events surrounding this incident continue to draw public attention, raising questions about the impact of reality television on personal relationships.
