Emergency services responded to a significant fire at the former Campsie View School building on Boghead Road in Lenzie, Scotland, after a report was made at approximately 10:50 PM on August 22, 2023. Fire crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were deployed to tackle the blaze, which continued throughout the night and into the following morning.

A total of five fire appliances were mobilized to combat the flames. By Saturday morning, firefighters remained on site, working diligently to extinguish the fire and ensure safety in the surrounding community. In light of the situation, a number of homes in the vicinity were evacuated, with local authorities advising residents to refrain from opening windows and doors due to smoke and potential hazards.

The East Dunbartonshire Council confirmed that several roads, including Spruce Drive, Heather Drive, Heather Place, and Boghead Road, would likely remain closed throughout the weekend. A statement from Police Scotland highlighted the ongoing emergency response, stating, “Road closures are in place on Spruce Drive, Heather Drive, Heather Place and Boghead Road, and a number of properties are being evacuated. Residents in the nearby areas are asked to keep their windows and doors closed at this time. Please avoid the area.”

In an effort to keep the community informed, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service urged nearby residents to maintain closed windows and doors while the fire was being addressed. Their spokesperson emphasized the scale of the response to the incident, reiterating that efforts were focused on containing the large fire at the derelict building.

The local council used social media platforms to provide updates, advising the public of the road closures and urging compliance with diversion signs that have been established. As the situation continues to unfold, emergency services remain vigilant, prioritizing the safety of both responders and local residents.

As the fire response continues, authorities will monitor the area for any additional developments. The public is encouraged to stay informed through official channels for the latest updates on the situation and any potential impacts on local traffic and safety measures.
