Glasgow’s YAYAS Competes for UK’s Top Takeaway Title

Glasgow’s YAYAS has made it to the final round of the Restaurant of the Year Awards, competing to be named the UK’s best takeaway. The popular eatery, located on Paisley Road West in the Cardonald area, has gained recognition for its delicious offerings, particularly its German doner kebabs and peri peri chicken. The announcement was made by food delivery company Uber Eats, which revealed a shortlist of twelve finalists from across the UK.

Judging Criteria and Prize Details
The winner will not only earn the title of the UK’s best takeaway but will also receive a substantial £100,000 prize to invest in their business. This year’s judging panel features well-known culinary figures, including Levi Roots, popular food influencer Todd, chef Clodagh McKenna, and last year’s winner Natty Crutchfield. Each finalist will also benefit from a tailored support package from Uber Eats, valued at £5,000, aimed at helping them enhance their business operations.
According to Matthew Price, general manager of Uber Eats UK, Ireland, and Northern Europe, “Independent restaurants are the beating heart of the UK and Ireland’s food scene.” He emphasized the importance of supporting local eateries that contribute to the vibrancy of their communities.
As the competition heats up, YAYAS faces strong contenders, including Sanjugo, which boasts an impressive 4.8 stars on Google Reviews and is known for its sushi offerings in London.
