Jake Paul Slams Gervonta Davis as Netflix Fight Cancelled
The highly anticipated exhibition match between Jake Paul and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has been abruptly cancelled, sending shockwaves through the sports community. The fight was scheduled for next week and was positioned as one of Netflix‘s major sports events of the year. The cancellation follows legal complications for Davis, who is facing a civil lawsuit from his former girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, in Miami.
Rossel’s lawsuit alleges multiple instances of assault and battery during their five-month relationship. She claims that Davis assaulted and choked her on at least four occasions and threatened her life in a written message last September. The lawsuit has raised serious concerns about Davis’s behavior, leading to the decision to cancel the match.
In response to the cancellation, Paul did not hold back. He took to social media to express his frustration, labelling Davis unprofessional and difficult to work with during the promotional period. Paul noted that significant time and effort had been wasted due to the cancellation. He did not shy away from using strong language, calling Davis “a piece of garbage” for the situation.
Jake Paul vented on his Instagram Stories, stating, “Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage. Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots.” He expressed disappointment for the organizers, undercard fighters, and fans, particularly those who had traveled long distances to attend the event.
Despite the upheaval, Paul remains determined to fight on Netflix before the end of the year. The streaming platform has confirmed that he will headline another event, with the date and venue to be announced shortly. Paul’s team is actively seeking a new opponent, with possible contenders including Andre Ward, Ryan Garcia, and Francis Ngannou.
In a statement, Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, said, “While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025. We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership.”
As the situation unfolds, fans and fighters alike will be watching closely to see how this public feud develops and which new matchups emerge in the wake of the cancellation.
