Ozzy Osbourne Reveals Heart Health Struggles Days Before Passing

Ozzy Osbourne opened up about his serious health issues shortly before his death on July 22, 2025. In his upcoming memoir, Last Rites, the legendary musician discussed his diagnosis of a heart arrhythmia and a problematic heart valve. The revelation comes just days after his farewell performance in Birmingham on July 5, where he took the stage for the first time since 2018.
Osbourne’s memoir, scheduled for release on October 7, 2025, highlights the gravity of his health challenges. “It’s always life-or-death,” he emphasized while recounting his experiences. According to a report by Louder Sound, Osbourne detailed that his heart valve was “80 percent blocked,” and he was also dealing with complications from sepsis following a prior surgery.
In the memoir, he described how the sepsis led to arrhythmia, a condition that disrupts the heart’s rhythm. “It’s like a drummer in a bad pub band,” he quipped about the frustrating experience. Despite his critical condition, doctors were hesitant to operate due to the blood-thinning medication he was taking for managing his Parkinson’s disease. Stopping the medication posed significant risks, leading to a precarious situation for the rock icon.
Osbourne candidly expressed his frustrations, stating, “I’ve honestly lost count of the ways in which getting old sucks.” His struggles were not limited to his heart; the memoir captures a lifetime of battles, both personal and professional.
In the wake of his passing, his family has publicly expressed their grief. Sharon Osbourne thanked fans for their “overwhelming love and support” and mentioned that she was “still finding my footing” after losing her husband. Their son, Jack Osbourne, shared a heartfelt tribute to his father in a video on his YouTube channel, while daughter Kelly Osbourne spoke about finding her “smile again” amid the sorrow.
In addition to the memoir, a documentary titled No Escape From Now is set to explore Osbourne’s final six years, providing a deeper insight into his life and struggles. This follows the airing of a film featuring Osbourne, Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, which aired on October 2, 2025. At the end of the program, he reflected on his final show with Black Sabbath, describing it as both “emotional” and “terribly frustrating” due to his inability to perform as he once did.
The official cause of Osbourne’s death was confirmed as a heart attack, with his death certificate also noting his struggles with coronary heart disease and Parkinson’s. The document classified him as a “Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend,” encapsulating his legacy in the music world.
As fans and family continue to mourn, Osbourne’s contributions to rock music and popular culture remain indelibly marked by his unique spirit and resilience.
