David Beckham Reveals Victoria Funded Their £2.5M Home
Victoria Beckham’s new documentary on Netflix has sparked significant interest, revealing personal insights about her life and career. Among the revelations, her husband, David Beckham, shared a notable detail regarding their former residence, known as Beckingham Palace. He disclosed that it was actually Victoria who financed their first home, located in Hertfordshire, which they bought for £2.5 million in 1999.
In the documentary, David explained the financial struggles of Victoria’s fashion brand, which required his support to avoid collapse. He candidly noted, “When we met, she was a lot richer than me. She actually bought our first house in Hertfordshire.” This admission highlighted the challenges they faced as a couple when Victoria approached him for additional funds to sustain her business. Ultimately, David could not continue investing, prompting Victoria to seek external investors, which has since led to the brand’s resurgence, including a successful beauty line.
Beckingham Palace: A Luxurious Investment
The property, affectionately dubbed “Beckingham Palace” by the media due to its grandeur, was officially named Rowneybury House. It became a symbol of their wealth and influence in the public eye. When they sold the estate in 2014, it fetched an impressive £11.5 million, marking a lucrative investment for the couple.
Covering 24 acres, the sprawling estate featured an array of luxurious amenities, including a swimming pool, a maze, and a stunning interior makeover that cost millions. Victoria described her vision for the home: “It’s an old house and I’ve themed every room. There’s a room like a tart’s boudoir, with leopard print everywhere and a mirrored ceiling. Then there’s our bedroom, which is quite virginal and white, with a big four-poster, old-oak bed,” she revealed to The Independent.
The estate also boasted unique features, such as a private woodland chapel, faux ancient ruins designed as a playground, and even a football pitch, catering to David’s passion for the sport. Given their high-profile status, security at the property was extensive, reportedly including two fences, seven watchtowers, and hundreds of cameras to ensure the safety of the family, including their son, Brooklyn.
The Beckham Family’s Current Residence
Today, the Beckhams maintain a diverse property portfolio across various locations. Their primary residence in London is valued at approximately £31 million and is complemented by a retreat in the Cotswolds, which is prominently featured in the documentary. Additionally, they own a luxurious waterfront mansion in Miami, further showcasing their affluent lifestyle.
As the couple continues to thrive both personally and professionally, their journey reflects not only their individual successes but also the evolution of their shared life. The revelations in the documentary provide fans with a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs that have shaped their relationship over the years.
