Martin Lewis Reveals Amazon’s Hidden Sites for Holiday Bargains
As the holiday shopping season approaches, many consumers are seeking ways to save on technology purchases. Financial expert Martin Lewis has highlighted several lesser-known sections of Amazon that could provide significant discounts, potentially up to 50 percent off retail prices. Speaking on the ITV program This Morning, Lewis shared insights about these sub-sites that can offer shoppers considerable savings on popular tech items.
Discovering Amazon’s Discounted Tech Sections
Lewis pointed out three specific areas on Amazon worth exploring: Amazon Resale, Amazon Renewed, and Amazon Outlet. Each of these sub-sites offers different types of products at reduced prices.
Amazon Resale features items that have been returned to the retailer. Lewis explained that customers might find products with damaged packaging but in excellent working condition. He noted, “You might have a slightly damaged box but they’ll tell you and give you the quality level. It’s so much cheaper and there are tools out there that can help you home in on the specific gift.” A customer testimonial highlighted the potential for savings, with one shopper reporting they purchased a coffee machine for less than half the original price, despite a slightly damaged box.
Amazon Renewed caters to buyers interested in previously owned technology from reputable brands such as Apple and Samsung. These items are typically refurbished and come with a one-year warranty. “This could be Apple, Samsung, Dell laptops, headphones, games consoles, smart watches,” Lewis explained, emphasizing the variety of options available.
The third option, Amazon Outlet, consists of a mix of clearance items that may include random merchandise. While some products may not appeal to every shopper, Lewis suggested there could be hidden gems, particularly in categories like toys and games.
Timing and Cautions for Shoppers
For those looking to receive their purchases before Christmas, Lewis advised that many items from these sections can still be delivered in time for the holidays. He encouraged last-minute shoppers to take advantage of these options.
Yet, Lewis issued a warning regarding the reliability of Amazon’s displayed discounts. “Amazon likes to play a little bit fast and loose with its discounts,” he cautioned. Customers should critically assess the listed savings and inquire about the original prices to determine the actual value of the discount.
To help navigate Amazon’s pricing strategies, Lewis recommended using an independent website called Camel Camel Camel. This platform allows users to track price histories of products, providing insights into whether current discounts are genuine. “You can actually see how relevant the discount is that Amazon is telling you about,” he explained.
As consumers prepare for the festive shopping period, Martin Lewis’s tips could prove invaluable, helping shoppers make informed decisions and find the best deals on technology gifts.
