Tivat Hosts Second Art Salon Celebrating Mediterranean Creativity
On Saturday evening, the Muzej i galerije Tivat opened the second visual arts salon titled “Pean – Sindik,” showcasing the theme “Imaginarijum Mediterana.” This exhibition aims to merge traditional and contemporary artistic expressions, featuring the works of 36 artists from both Montenegro and the broader region. From a total of 130 submissions, only the selected pieces are on display, highlighting the salon’s commitment to quality and artistic excellence.
This year’s jury, led by Nevenka Šarčević, opted not to award the Grand Prix, a decision she explained as a means to encourage artists to engage in bolder and more profound creative endeavors. Instead, Matko Vekić from Croatia received second place for his work titled “Slutnja.” Additional recognitions were given to Filip Dacevac and Lidija Martinović in the category for artists under 35 years, along with Milan Pantelić and Lucija Jelić.
Celebrating Cultural Development in Tivat
During the opening ceremony, Danijela Đukić, Director of the Museum and Galleries, emphasized that the salon serves as more than just an art exhibition. It stands as a testament to the ongoing development of Tivat’s cultural scene and the collaborative efforts that have shaped it. “This event is not just an opportunity to gather around art; it highlights the results of dedicated and continuous work in fostering our community’s cultural landscape,” she stated.
The Pean – Sindik salon reinforces the museum’s mission to support artists and stimulate dialogue, all while fostering cultural awareness in the local community. Through a range of exhibitions, educational programs, and partnerships with artists and institutions, the museum has established a distinct identity as a vital cultural player.
The works of the thirty-six artists showcased at this year’s salon are displayed across three levels of the JU Muzej i galerija Tivat. The atmosphere was further enriched by a musical performance from Adian Gebauer, a graduate of the Music School, who entertained guests with his saxophone.
Marking the Start of November Days
This event also marks the commencement of the “November Days” festival, organized under the auspices of the Tivat Municipality, in celebration of the municipality’s founding day on November 21. The salon not only showcases local talent but also serves as a platform for emerging artists, emphasizing the importance of cultural growth and artistic expression in the region.
As the second Tivat Visual Arts Salon unfolds, it promises to be a significant milestone in the ongoing journey of cultural development in Tivat, fostering creativity and community engagement through the arts.
