The second art salon, “Pean – Sindik,” opened on Saturday evening at the Museum and Galleries of Tivat, highlighting the theme “Imaginary Mediterranean.” This exhibition merges tradition with contemporary artistic expression, showcasing the work of 36 artists from the region. Out of 130 submitted pieces, only these selected works are on display, with the jury deciding not to award the Grand Prix this year.

Matko Vekic from Croatia received second place for his artwork titled “Premonition.” Additionally, Filip Dacevac and Lidija Martinovic were recognized in the category for artists under 35 years old, while Milan Pantelic and Lucija Jelic also received awards for their contributions.

Nevenka Šarčević, chair of the expert jury, explained that the decision to withhold the top prize was not viewed as a loss but rather as an opportunity to encourage artists to pursue bolder and more profound creativity. She emphasized the salon’s role in fostering artistic growth and community engagement.

The director of the Museum and Galleries, Danijela Đukić, remarked that the event serves not only as a gathering for art enthusiasts but also as a platform to reflect on the continuous development of Tivat’s cultural scene. She stated, “Through numerous exhibitions, educational programs, and collaborations with artists and institutions both locally and regionally, our organization has established a recognizable identity and become a vital part of the community’s cultural life.”

The second Tivat Art Salon “Pean – Sindik” affirms this progress by gathering renowned artists, promoting emerging talent, and showcasing a broad spectrum of contemporary artistic expressions. The mission of the salon is to support artists through a professional and inclusive approach, stimulating dialogue and contributing to the development of cultural awareness within the local community.

The works from the 36 participating artists are displayed across three levels of the Museum and Gallery of Tivat. The opening event featured a musical performance by graduate Adrian Gebauer from the Music School, who played the saxophone.

This salon also marks the beginning of the “November Days” event series, organized under the auspices of the Municipality of Tivat, in celebration of the municipality’s day on November 21, 2023.
