British Drone Strike Eliminates Jihadi John While He Ate Kebab

A British-led drone strike in 2015 targeted and killed notorious Islamic State figure Jihadi John, also known as Mohammed Emwazi, while he was reportedly eating a kebab. This revelation comes from military officials who disclosed details of the operation that eliminated the man infamous for his role in the execution of hostages.
The mission took place in Raqqa, Syria, where Emwazi was under surveillance by the UK’s MI6 for approximately six weeks. Intelligence gathered indicated a predictable pattern in his movements, particularly his frequent visits to a building adjacent to a mosque. Military sources stated that Emwazi typically arrived in a 4×4 vehicle and remained at the location for only a few minutes.
The breakthrough came when Emwazi was tracked to a kebab shop, leading to a meticulously planned strike. A military official explained, “One day he walked out of the kebab shop just as a boy with him ran off to play football. It was our chance.” The timing of the strike was critical; the operation was executed after the boy left the scene, allowing for a clear shot.
On the day of the strike, a drone equipped with a Hellfire missile targeted Emwazi. Initial concerns arose when the boy returned unexpectedly, nearly prompting an abort of the mission. However, a blockage by vehicles allowed the strike to proceed, resulting in Emwazi’s death. “Emwazi was evaporated, kebab in hand,” the official noted, highlighting the precision of the operation.
The elimination of Jihadi John marked a significant moment in the fight against terrorism, as he was linked to the execution of at least 29 captives during his time with the Islamic State. His actions had drawn widespread condemnation and fear globally.
In related news, last week, El Shafee Elsheikh, known as Jihadi Ringo, who was a close associate of Emwazi, applied to transfer from a US prison to a facility in the UK. This application has drawn anger from the families of the victims of IS, reigniting discussions about accountability and justice for those affected by the group’s violent actions.
The mission that took out Jihadi John underscores the complexities and moral dilemmas faced by intelligence and military officials in combatting terror organizations.
