Donald Trump’s Health Under Scrutiny After Bruise-Like Mark Appears
Former President Donald Trump has drawn attention following the appearance of a bruise-like mark on his hand during public engagements. The visible mark was first noted on August 22, when he was seen with a noticeable smear of makeup on his right hand. A few days later, on August 25, while signing an executive order at the Oval Office, a blue-black mark was clearly visible on the back of his hand, raising further questions about his health.
The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, addressed concerns regarding the mark, stating that it was “consistent” with irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin. Despite her reassurances, subsequent images showed an increase in makeup on the affected area along with more pronounced bruising, prompting ongoing speculation about the former president’s wellbeing.
Since taking office again in January, Trump has maintained a rigorous schedule, recently engaging with European leaders. His public appearances have been limited, with only one recent photograph surfacing since his last interview, which was conducted via radio. On Thursday, Trump spoke to law enforcement officers in Washington, D.C., before attending an event at the Kennedy Center.
In an earlier press briefing, Leavitt was questioned about Trump’s treatment for chronic venous insufficiency, a condition he was diagnosed with a month prior. When asked whether his doctor would provide more details, she indicated that while she could not commit to that, the administration is committed to transparency. “Unlike the previous White House, there is nothing to hide,” she stated, while emphasizing that Trump is “literally 24/7 all of the time.”
Despite her attempts to reassure the public about Trump’s health, she did not directly address inquiries about any changes to his treatment. Leavitt noted, “You see the President every day. He’s moving, he’s working. There have been no adjustments made to his lifestyle.”
Questions surrounding Trump’s health have further intensified after a recent incident where he mistakenly referred to the location of an upcoming summit with Vladimir Putin. He incorrectly stated that the meeting would take place in Russia, when in fact, it is scheduled to be held in Alaska. Leavitt responded to inquiries about the confusion by suggesting he may have been referring to a future visit to Russia, despite clear indications that he was discussing the imminent meeting.
Additionally, during a meeting with European leaders, Trump made an unusual reference to the “Republic of the Condo” and failed to recognize Alexander Stubb, the president of Finland, who was seated directly in front of him. Such incidents have led to increased scrutiny and speculation regarding his cognitive and physical health.
As public interest grows, the administration faces pressure to provide clearer information regarding Trump’s health status and any necessary medical treatments.
