A recent analysis of long-stay parking costs at major UK airports has revealed significant price variations for holidaymakers. Conducted by Mozio, a company specializing in airport taxi services, the study evaluated the costs of parking a car for seven days at 13 of the UK’s busiest airports.

Edinburgh Airport emerged as the most economical choice, with the lowest parking rate of just £39.48 for a week. In contrast, East Midlands Airport recorded a parking fee of £72.49, which, while not the highest, is considerably more expensive than Edinburgh’s offering.

Comparative Costs Across Major Airports

The research highlighted that Newcastle Airport holds the title for the highest parking fees, with the cheapest option costing a striking £112.48. In comparison, major airports in London also exhibited notable pricing. Heathrow and Gatwick airports charged £77.48 and £79.48 respectively, which are only slightly higher than East Midlands Airport.

London Stansted, located in Essex, provided a more affordable rate at £67.49, while London Luton ranked among the more expensive options at £88.84. Other airports with higher costs included Birmingham and Liverpool, contributing to the overall trend of increasing parking fees across the UK.

Nicole Kerr, CEO of Mozio, emphasized the financial implications of parking fees for travelers. “Research has suggested that the average price of a seven-night holiday is around £1,072 per person. On top of this fee, the last thing holidaymakers need to consider is how expensive airport parking costs might be,” she stated.

Kerr recommended pre-booking airport transfers as a way to alleviate the stress associated with parking. She explained that using a ground transportation platform like Mozio allows travelers to secure their bookings in advance, providing options for various types of transfers, including taxis and limousines.

Benefits of Pre-Booking Transfers

Kerr noted that pre-booking a transfer can often be more economical than parking or hailing a last-minute taxi, which may incur sudden price increases. “More importantly, pre-booking your transfer in advance can be a much cheaper alternative to airport parking or calling for a taxi, where you could be at risk of last-minute price surges and potentially paying more for large groups and luggage,” she added.

For those who still prefer airport parking, Mozio offers a wide range of options tailored to various budgets. The findings underscore the importance for travelers to weigh their parking and transportation choices carefully, particularly as travel demands continue to rise.

This analysis provides valuable insights for those planning to travel via UK airports, highlighting the potential savings available through informed decisions regarding parking and transportation.
