Bicester Village Launches Charity Pop-Up Supporting Women’s Employment

Bicester Village has unveiled a new charity initiative, partnering with the organization Smart Works to create a unique pop-up shop aimed at supporting women’s employment. The project, named The Village Attic, opens today and will remain operational until November 20, 2023. This initiative allows shoppers to purchase vintage designer items while contributing to a cause that empowers women entering the job market.
Smart Works is well-known for its transformative work, providing women with essential coaching, professional clothing, and the confidence needed to succeed in interviews and beyond. By collaborating with Bicester Village, the charity aims to reach a broader audience and enhance its impact.
The Village Attic features a carefully curated collection of vintage designer clothing, shoes, handbags, and jewellery. Stylist Bay Garnett has played a crucial role in selecting these items, ensuring that each piece reflects the essence of style and sustainability. Notably, 100% of the proceeds from sales will be donated directly to Smart Works.
In her comments regarding the initiative, Chantal Khoueiry, chief culture officer at Bicester Village, emphasized the significance of combining fashion with purpose. “When fashion meets purpose, lives are transformed. Through our philanthropic programme, DO GOOD, we harness the power of our platform to create lasting impact locally and globally,” she stated.
The launch of The Village Attic not only provides shoppers with the opportunity to find unique items but also supports the welfare of women seeking employment. With the holiday season approaching, this pop-up shop offers a chance to shop sustainably while making a meaningful contribution to the community.
Among the contributions to the pop-up is an outfit donated by model Immy Waterhouse, adding to the allure of the collection. This collaboration encourages the community to engage with charity in a vibrant and fashionable way, with no barriers to access.
As the initiative progresses, it is expected to draw attention from both local shoppers and fashion enthusiasts alike. The Village Attic stands as a testament to the power of community-driven efforts in fostering positive change. Whether one is looking to enhance their wardrobe or find special gifts for the upcoming holidays, shopping at The Village Attic means supporting a worthy cause.
This innovative charity shop exemplifies the growing trend of socially conscious retail, where every purchase contributes to a larger mission. Bicester Village invites all to explore this unique shopping experience while championing women’s empowerment and sustainability.
