Montenegro Handball Team Secures Victory Over Belgium in Friendly Match

The Montenegro national handball team triumphed over Belgium with a score of 34-30 in a friendly match held at the Verde Sports Hall on March 15, 2024. This match marked the team’s first competitive outing in nearly six months, and it proved to be a test of their readiness as they gear up for the upcoming European Championship.

Captain Mirko Radović described the game as an excellent assessment of the team’s current form. “We entered the match a bit sluggishly, and we had to make up for that,” he stated. Radović emphasized the improvements made in the second half, where the team tightened their defense and corrected earlier mistakes. “In the end, we celebrated by four goals, which I consider quite good, especially since we had several injured players.”

Despite not scoring during the match, Radović’s leadership was evident throughout. His teammate, Stevan Vujović, contributed one goal and reflected on the team’s performance. “It was difficult to break away; we couldn’t manage it until the very end,” he said. Vujović highlighted the significance of the win for team morale, particularly as they prepare for the European Championship.

Montenegro’s performance showcased a mix of positive and challenging aspects, which Vujović noted they would work on moving forward. He expressed confidence in the younger players, stating they proved they could be relied upon for the future competitions. “The younger players showed they can be part of the team and compete effectively at the European level,” Vujović added.
