Two Young Men Arrested for Severe Assault in Pljevlja

Two young men, aged 20, have been arrested in Pljevlja, Montenegro, following a violent incident that left a 21-year-old male with serious injuries. The arrests were made by officers from the Regional Centre for Security “West,” who acted on information regarding a physical altercation that occurred at a local establishment.

On October 20, 2023, police received a notification from the staff at the General Hospital Pljevlja, reporting that the victim had been admitted with head injuries. Initially, the victim claimed he sustained these injuries from falling down a staircase. However, further investigation revealed that the injuries were a result of a physical confrontation.

As the investigation progressed, law enforcement officers suspected that the victim was assaulted during a fight involving the two suspects, identified as P.G. and D.M.. Both individuals are known to authorities as repeat offenders in relation to criminal activities. Reports indicate that they inflicted multiple blows to the victim’s head and continued the assault even after he fell to the ground.

The police promptly located and detained P.G. and D.M., leading to their formal arrest. The case was referred to the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Pljevlja, which has since issued charges against them for violent behavior and serious bodily harm.

Following their arrest, the suspects were held for questioning. The prosecutor has ordered their detention for up to 72 hours, after which they were brought before a judge at the Basic Court in Pljevlja. The judge has since ruled to keep them in custody for a maximum of 30 days as the investigation continues.

The victim has received medical treatment for his injuries and, according to police, is not in life-threatening condition. Officials are continuing to gather evidence and statements regarding the circumstances surrounding this violent event, ensuring that all aspects are thoroughly examined.
