Montenegro to Establish Embassy in Riyadh by Early 2026

Montenegro plans to open its embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by early 2026, according to a letter from Prime Minister Milojko Spajić to Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. Until an ambassador is appointed, the Montenegrin government will designate a chargé d’affaires at the embassy.

During a recent official visit to Saudi Arabia, Spajić engaged in productive discussions with the Crown Prince, focusing on enhancing cooperation between Montenegro and Saudi Arabia. Both leaders emphasized the long-standing friendship and mutual respect that characterize the relationship between the two nations. The visit also provided an opportunity for Montenegro to showcase its potential to the Saudi business community and investors.

In his letter, Spajić expressed gratitude for the royal hospitality and shared his impressions of Saudi Arabia’s comprehensive development and transformation. He highlighted that the vision of development, innovation, and sustainability driven by Saudi leadership serves as an inspiration for many countries.

Spajić stated that his encouraging visit motivated him to inform the Crown Prince of Montenegro’s intention to open a resident embassy in Riyadh as soon as possible. He indicated that appointing a chargé d’affaires would allow for the embassy’s operations to commence in 2026.

The establishment of an embassy in Riyadh is expected to bolster institutional cooperation and strengthen Montenegro’s presence in the Middle Eastern market. This strategic move reflects Montenegro’s commitment to deepening its ties with Saudi Arabia and enhancing collaboration in various sectors.
