Festive Artisan Market Returns to Peel for Holiday Season

A beloved festive event is set to return to Peel this weekend, offering a unique shopping experience that celebrates creativity and community. Artreach Studios’ annual event, known as Christmas Hygge, is now in its eighth year and will feature a variety of artisan stalls across four indoor venues. The event takes place on November 14, 2023, with activities continuing through the weekend.

This year’s event introduces Sailors Shelter on East Quay as the newest venue, joining Pilates Isle of Man, House of Manannan, and Artreach Studios itself. Sailors Shelter, a historic community building established in 1876, has been transformed into a festive haven, embodying the Danish concept of hygge, which emphasizes warmth, comfort, and simple pleasures. The venue has historically provided shelter for sailors and fishermen, making it a fitting location for this year’s celebrations.

Each of the four venues provides a distinct atmosphere for attendees. Pilates Isle of Man, situated along the quayside, blends wellness with holiday charm. The House of Manannan offers a captivating cultural backdrop within its museum foyer, while Artreach Studios, located in the Old Gasworks on Mill Road, continues to serve as a vibrant creative hub for local artists and small businesses.

The event will showcase more than 30 artisan stalls, featuring an inspiring array of handcrafted gifts. Visitors can explore offerings that include jewellery, fine art, textiles, candles, sustainable beauty products, and delectable baked treats. Local food vendors, including The Parish Pantry and Filbey’s Little Food Shack, will also provide delicious culinary options for attendees.

The festivities kick off with a launch night on Friday, November 14, from 17:00 to 20:30. The market will remain open on Saturday and Sunday, with operating hours from 10:00 to 16:30 each day. Notably, Sailors Shelter will close early at 14:30 on Sunday.
