Dominic Calvert-Lewin Set to Join Leeds United on Free Transfer

Leeds United has reached an agreement to sign striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a free agent. The 28-year-old, who departed Everton after nine years, is scheduled to undergo a medical examination at the club’s Thorp Arch training ground.
Calvert-Lewin struggled with injuries last season, managing only three goals in 26 appearances for Everton. He missed a significant portion of the season due to injury, sidelined for three months starting in January. His time at Everton was marred by injury issues, with the forward missing a total of 529 days due to various problems since the beginning of the 2021-22 campaign.
At the end of last season, Everton offered Calvert-Lewin a new contract on reduced terms, but he declined in favor of seeking a fresh challenge. In a heartfelt message posted on Instagram in June, he stated, “To Everton Football Club and the Evertonians. After nine remarkable years at this club, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision — together with my family — to begin a new chapter in my career. This isn’t something I chose lightly. Everton has been my home since I was 19 years old. It’s the place that saw potential in me, challenged me to grow, and shaped me both as a footballer and as a man.”
Leeds United’s Summer Signings
Calvert-Lewin is expected to become Leeds United’s eighth signing of the summer, as the club continues to bolster its squad ahead of their return to the Premier League. The team aims to improve its performance after a challenging previous season.
In their opening match, Leeds will host Calvert-Lewin’s former club, Everton, on Monday night. The arrival of the experienced striker is anticipated to bring much-needed firepower to Leeds’ attacking options as they prepare for the competitive season ahead.
The transfer marks a significant step for both the player and the club, with Calvert-Lewin looking to reinvigorate his career after a difficult period at Everton. As he transitions to Leeds, fans and analysts alike will be keen to see how he adapts and contributes to the team’s ambitions.
