An entrepreneur has turned a modest loan from her grandmother into a thriving business valued at £71 million. Paige Louise, who grew up on a council estate in Droylsden, Greater Manchester, faced numerous challenges on her journey to success. Leaving school without qualifications, she initially pursued a career as a children’s social worker but soon shifted her focus to her passion for makeup.

At the age of 32, Paige Louise decided to become a freelance makeup artist and developed a distinct style that quickly attracted a loyal clientele. To further her ambitions, she sought financial assistance from her grandmother, who worked part-time as a cleaner. With a loan of £20,000, Louise opened her own salon in Prestwich and in 2014, launched the P.Louise Makeup Academy.

Her initial offerings included affordable makeup courses, but she faced financial hurdles, even selling her car to keep the business afloat. Despite these challenges, her dedication paid off as the academy gained a solid reputation. Recognizing the potential of online education, she began offering virtual courses at a time when live streaming was still a novel concept. This strategic move helped expand her audience significantly.

By 2018, Paige took a significant step by entering the cosmetics market. Her product, an eyeshadow base now known as Rumour Base, received a major endorsement from beauty influencer NikkieTutorials, who ranked it number one on YouTube. This pivotal moment not only elevated her brand but also set the stage for further growth.

In August 2024, a decade after launching her academy, Paige achieved a remarkable milestone. She broke the UK record for the most revenue generated on TikTok Shop by a UK brand, earning over £1.5 million in just 12 hours. Following this success, the P.Louise brand moved into an 8,000 square foot warehouse in Middleton, later relocating to a larger 36,000 square foot facility in Stockport.

The P.Louise brand reported an impressive £71 million in revenue for the last financial year, with projections reaching £138 million for the current year. Looking ahead, Paige is set to open her first retail store in the Trafford Palazzo located in the Trafford Centre this October.

Reflecting on her journey, Paige stated, “I hope that anyone that steps into my world realizes that anything is possible. Your background doesn’t define who you are.” Her story serves as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs, illustrating that determination and passion can lead to extraordinary success.
