Earlier today, logic enthusiasts were invited to tackle three challenging gerrymandering puzzles designed by Brady Forrest, also known as Deckard. The goal of these puzzles is to determine the unique electoral map where the minority colour prevails in the most regions. Each grid presents a distinct challenge, with regions defined as contiguous blocks of cells connected either horizontally or vertically.

The puzzles are structured to engage players in critical thinking about electoral boundaries and representation. In each scenario, a region is won by the colour that occupies the majority of cells. Exploring the Puzzles

The first puzzle is classified as easy, requiring participants to divide a grid into five regions of five cells each. The minority colour, purple, must secure the majority of these regions. The second puzzle increases in difficulty, asking players to split a grid into five regions of ten cells each, with the same requirement for purple to win. Importantly, ties are not permitted in any region.

The final and most challenging puzzle involves dividing a grid into seven regions of seven cells each, where blue, again the minority colour, must win the majority of regions. As with the previous puzzles, no ties are allowed for first place in any region.
