Jollyes to Open Six New Pet Superstores Across the UK by Christmas

Pet owners in the UK will soon have increased shopping options as leading pet retailer Jollyes announces plans to open six new superstores in time for Christmas. This expansion represents a significant boost for the high street, as the company converts five former Poundland locations into its new stores.
The openings will begin on November 15, 2023, with the first store launching in Swansea. This will be followed by a new location in Southend on November 22. The remaining four stores will open shortly thereafter: Thurrock on November 28, Colne on November 29, Carlisle on December 6, and Burnley on December 13. This rapid rollout reflects Jollyes’ commitment to expanding its presence across the UK.
In addition to these immediate openings, Jollyes has plans for further growth, with another store expected to launch in Blackpool in early 2026. The recent announcement follows the opening of a new branch in Chesterfield on October 18, marking the company’s aggressive expansion strategy.
Jollyes is also focused on supporting the local workforce. The retailer has pledged to offer guaranteed interviews to former Poundland employees affected by the closures of the previous stores, helping to preserve local jobs. Additionally, Jollyes is collaborating with several organizations to enhance employment opportunities, including Rest Less, which assists those over 50 in finding work; the Fair Chance Business Alliance, which helps individuals with criminal records; and the Armed Forces Covenant, ensuring interviews for veterans seeking employment.
Adam Dury, Jollyes’ Chief Operating Officer and CEO designate, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, stating, “We’re excited to have the opportunity to bring our combination of low prices and pet expertise to so many new places before the end of the year. For too long, pet parents across the UK have had little choice – high prices at a specialist or the limited range of a general retailer.”
Over the past three years, Jollyes has nearly doubled its number of stores, now operating more than 100 branches across the nation. The company’s primary national distribution centre is located in Middlewich, Cheshire, with an additional warehouse in Wigan.
This expansion not only enhances shopping choices for pet owners but also demonstrates Jollyes’ commitment to providing value and expertise, positioning itself as a go-to destination for pet care needs in the UK.
