Poundcafe Offers Affordable All-Day Brunch in St Johns Centre

The Poundcafe in St Johns Shopping Centre is making headlines with its impressively affordable all-day brunch options, drawing in customers with its budget-friendly prices. Established in 2013, the cafe has become a popular choice for shoppers and families seeking hearty meals without breaking the bank.
Budget-Friendly Dining Experience
During a visit on a Monday morning, I noticed that the cafe was bustling with activity, a testament to its popularity. By 11:20, a small queue had already formed, and it was easy to see why. The menu offers a variety of British classics, with prices that are hard to match in today’s economy. A meal of egg and chips costs just £3.20, while sausage, chips, and gravy can be had for £3.90.
The breakfast menu, available until 11:30, features a five-item breakfast for £3.75 and a seven-item option for £5. The standout for me was the all-day brunch, comprising sausage, bacon, egg, chips, and beans, priced at just £4.40. Adding a regular tea for £1.80 and a latte for £2 brought my total to an impressive £6.20.
A Satisfying Meal Amidst the Hustle
After placing my order, I was informed by the cashier that my food would take about ten minutes to prepare. The cafe was filled with shoppers taking a break, friends enjoying coffee, and families enjoying lunch together.
When my meal arrived, it was beautifully presented on a black tray. The crispy bacon and generous portion of chips were immediately appealing. The chips had a satisfying crunch, and the beans complemented the dish well. The sausage, surprisingly good for its price, reminded me of a smaller, quality sausage from a chip shop.
My only critique was the fried egg, which was cooked a bit too long, lacking the runny yolk that many diners prefer. Nevertheless, for the price and portion size, the meal was well worth it.
Leaving Poundcafe, I felt pleasantly full and appreciated the quality of the meal I had just enjoyed. The combination of affordability, choice, and taste explains the cafe’s strong appeal. As prices rise in many dining establishments, Poundcafe remains a reliable option for those seeking value and satisfaction.
