Firmus Energy Cuts Gas Prices for Ten Towns Network Customers

Gas prices will decrease for customers in the Ten Towns Network, effective from October 1, 2025. This reduction, announced by firmus energy, will save households an average of £78 annually. The company previously reduced its gas tariff by 11.84% in April, marking this as their second adjustment of the year.
Ryan Miskimmin, Sales Director at firmus energy Supply, expressed satisfaction with the new price cut, stating, “We are pleased to share our second tariff reduction of the year and are always committed to passing on any savings to customers, whenever it is possible for us to do so.” The latest reduction stands at 7.86%, following discussions with the Utility Regulator and Consumer Council.
Since April, the cumulative reductions have lowered tariffs by almost 19%, equating to an average annual saving of £210 per household. Miskimmin emphasized the importance of these savings as the colder months approach, highlighting the benefits of natural gas for heating and hot water.
Details of the Ten Towns Network
The Ten Towns Network encompasses several regions, including Antrim, Armagh, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Banbridge, Coleraine, Craigavon (which includes Lurgan and Portadown), Limavady, Derry/Londonderry, and Newry. Additionally, over 25 other towns and villages in the surrounding areas are included in this tariff change.
An announcement regarding the gas prices for the Greater Belfast Network is anticipated soon. This network covers Belfast, Lisburn, Bangor, Holywood, Donaghadee, Groomsport, Millisle, Newtownards, Carryduff, Comber, Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus, Larne, and East Down.
Consumer Response and Support Options
The Consumer Council has welcomed the announcement of the gas tariff reduction. Karen Smyth, Director of Infrastructure and Sustainability at the Consumer Council, stated, “We welcome this gas tariff decrease from firmus energy, as it indicates a slight downward curve in wholesale energy prices.” She cautioned, however, that energy prices remain significantly higher than pre-pandemic levels, attributing the volatility to ongoing global geopolitical concerns.
The Consumer Council is actively engaged with the Utility Regulator and regulated supply companies to ensure that cost savings are swiftly passed to consumers when wholesale prices decline. Smyth encouraged anyone struggling with energy bills to reach out to their suppliers, noting that many are eager to offer assistance.
