The Glangwili Chemotherapy Day Unit in Carmarthen has received a significant boost in patient care with a generous donation of £7,899 from NFU Llandeilo. This contribution comes from the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust, which aims to support local community health initiatives.

During a recent visit to the unit, representatives from NFU Llandeilo, including Office Manager Angharad Davies, expressed the importance of the support provided by the unit. “The significance of the support provided by the unit has become increasingly clear in recent years, as cancer continues to affect families across the Llandeilo community,” Davies stated.

The funds from this donation will enhance the facilities available to patients undergoing treatment, addressing both immediate needs and long-term improvements. Jessica Michael, Senior Sister at the Chemotherapy Day Unit, thanked NFU Llandeilo for their generosity. “We are always looking at ways to improve the environment and the way we care for patients within the Chemotherapy Day Unit. Please be assured that this money will go towards this improvement,” she said.

The support from local organizations like NFU Llandeilo is vital in providing services that extend beyond what the NHS can offer. Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, highlighted the importance of community contributions. “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda, and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive,” Llewelyn said.

The contribution to Glangwili Hospital’s Chemotherapy Day Unit not only improves the quality of care but also reinforces the community’s commitment to supporting local healthcare initiatives. As organizations and individuals come together to bolster these services, they contribute to a more positive experience for patients facing challenging health journeys.
