Inverness Dental Practice Enhances Services with New Oral Surgeon
A dental practice in Inverness has appointed a new oral surgeon, adding significant expertise to its team. Torwood Dental Practice, part of the Clyde Munro Dental Group, has welcomed Andrew Brewer, who brings over 40 years of clinical experience to his role in the city’s Kenneth Street.
Previously based near Glasgow, Brewer has devoted decades to delivering complex surgical care in various settings, including both hospital and general practice environments. His career includes over 30 years as an associate specialist in oral surgery at Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary, where he provided essential care to medically vulnerable patients.
Brewer is registered on the General Dental Council’s specialist lists for oral surgery and special care dentistry. He is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow and has held leadership roles in international organizations, including the World Federation of Haemophilia.
Streamlined Services for Patients
At Torwood, Brewer leads a monthly oral surgery clinic designed to enhance patient care. The clinic offers a streamlined service that simplifies treatment, particularly for individuals traveling from rural areas. By providing both consultation and surgery in a single visit, the clinic aims to reduce the need for multiple appointments.
“What we’re doing in Inverness is delivering safe, effective oral surgery in a way that’s more convenient for patients and referring dentists alike,” Brewer stated. He emphasized the importance of improving access to specialist care where it is needed most.
Significant Impact on Local Healthcare
The appointment of Andrew Brewer is viewed as a pivotal advancement for dental services in the Highlands. Charlie Evans, head of clinical at Clyde Munro, remarked, “His expertise enables us to provide high-quality, specialist care closer to home for patients who would otherwise face long journeys for treatment.”
With Brewer’s addition to the team, Torwood Dental Practice aims to enhance the overall dental offering in Inverness, ensuring that residents have access to specialized care without the burden of extensive travel. This initiative not only addresses the immediate needs of patients but also strengthens the healthcare landscape in the region.
