The Ultimate Body Factory has officially opened its doors in the Allendale Shopping Center at 5 Cheshire Road, Pittsfield, providing a fresh fitness experience for the community. Co-owned by local residents AJ Bowman and Geoff Powell, this new gym occupies a renovated space of 8,500 square feet and aims to cater to fitness enthusiasts of all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes.

Bowman and Powell, who met at various gyms and forged a friendship through their shared passion for fitness, saw an opportunity to introduce a facility that complements existing fitness options in Berkshire County. “We both saw a need for something new to add to what is already available,” Bowman explained. After several discussions and inspiration gathered from gyms across the country, they formalized their vision in 2024.

Transforming Ideas into Reality

Bringing their concept to life required extensive planning and securing the necessary financing. Bowman noted that obtaining a loan from Lee Bank was crucial in making their dream a reality. “They’ve been great and have worked closely with us to make this happen,” he said, although he did not disclose the specific investment amount.

Their chosen location, previously home to Wood Brothers music store, was ideal for their needs. “This space was perfect for us,” Bowman shared, after signing the lease in September 2023. The duo promptly began remodeling the facility, while also establishing a presence on social media to keep potential customers updated on their progress.

Ultimate Body Factory aims to create an environment that fosters community and personalized service. “A gym should be much more than just a workout spot,” Bowman emphasized. “People should not feel that they have to go to the gym as a chore. Instead, it should be a place they want to go because it offers a sense of belonging.”

A State-of-the-Art Fitness Experience

The gym features a diverse range of options for cardiovascular fitness and weight training. The center includes a large open room with dedicated areas for turf training, strength training, and conditioning. With a variety of equipment such as treadmills, rowing machines, and specialized resistance machines, Bowman is confident that members will be impressed. “When people first see it, they go, ‘Wow,’” he remarked.

Among the standout equipment, the gym features the Arsenal Pendulum Squat and the Nautilus Hack Squat, among others, sourced from SuperFitness, a supplier based in North Carolina. Bowman highlighted this selection as a unique aspect that sets Ultimate Body Factory apart from other gyms in the region.

Membership options include a basic monthly fee of $50, along with day and weekly passes. To prevent overcrowding, they have capped the number of memberships available. Currently, the gym does not offer classes but plans to introduce them in the future.

Alongside the two co-owners, a dedicated staff of six is on hand to assist clients and arrange personal training services. Bowman expressed satisfaction with the initial community response, stating, “People have been extremely supportive and enthusiastic.” He is optimistic about the future, noting that there are opportunities for expansion within the Allendale complex as the business grows.

Ultimately, the Ultimate Body Factory aims to provide not just a workout venue but a welcoming community for fitness enthusiasts in Pittsfield. With their commitment to quality and service, Bowman and Powell are poised to make a significant impact in the local fitness landscape.
