Emma Mary Tiglao, a 30-year-old pageant contestant from Pampanga, achieved a significant milestone by winning the Miss Grand International 2025 crown in Bangkok on October 18, 2025. This victory culminated a decade of persistence, during which she faced multiple challenges in her quest for international recognition.

Tiglao’s journey in beauty pageants began in 2012 with her participation in Mutya ng Pilipinas, where she finished as 1st Runner-up. She continued competing in various contests, including Binibining Pilipinas 2014, where she placed in the Top 15, and Miss World Philippines 2015, taking home the title of 4th Princess. A significant moment in her career came in 2019 when she represented the Philippines at Miss Intercontinental in Egypt, reaching the Top 20.

After a hiatus in 2022, many speculated her pageant days were over. However, she made a remarkable comeback by winning the Miss Grand Philippines title, eventually leading her to the international stage. During her standout performance in the Top 10, Tiglao delivered a powerful speech advocating against corruption and violence. She stated, “As a journalist, my heart aches for my country, which is drowned by corruption,” referencing the dire circumstances faced by communities affected by natural disasters and the loss of lives in conflict zones like Gaza. She emphasized, “Peace begins when parents teach children with compassion, leaders embody humility, youth find their purpose, and when we live with empathy and kindness.”

Her journey to victory was marked by public support, as she advanced to the Top 20 by winning the ‘Country’s Power of the Year’ vote. Judges and fans alike recognized her poise, presence, and articulate expression. In a heartfelt moment, outgoing queen CJ Opiaza of the Philippines placed the crown on Tiglao’s head, marking a historic back-to-back win for the country in the Miss Grand International competition. Tiglao outperformed 76 other delegates, with Thailand securing 1st Runner-Up, followed by Spain, Ghana, and Venezuela in subsequent positions.

Beyond her pageant career, Tiglao holds a degree in Tourism Management from Holy Angel University and has experience in modelling across Southeast Asia and in broadcast journalism in the Philippines. She has served as a host and anchor for various programs, including Eagle Broadcasting Corporation’s nightly news and morning shows.

Her commitment to social causes is evident, as she organized outreach efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic for vulnerable populations, including those in detention facilities and frontline workers. As Miss Grand International 2025, Tiglao is expected to be based in Thailand while promoting the organization’s ‘Stop the War and Violence’ campaign globally.

With her reign beginning on a note of substance and momentum, Tiglao embarks on this new chapter with the steadfast support of her nation, representing both ambition and compassion on the world stage.
