Festive Artisan Market Returns to Peel for Holiday Cheer
A beloved festive event is set to return to Peel this weekend, providing a unique shopping experience that celebrates creativity and community. The eighth annual Christmas Hygge, hosted by Artreach Studios, will take place across four venues in Peel, including the newly added Sailors Shelter. This event showcases local artisans and their handcrafted products, drawing visitors into the warm and inviting atmosphere that embodies the essence of the season.
The Christmas Hygge experience will unfold in four locations: Sailors Shelter, Pilates Isle of Man, House of Manannan, and Artreach Studios. Sailors Shelter, located on East Quay, has been transformed into a festive haven, adorned with seasonal decorations. This venue holds historical significance, having served as a refuge for sailors and fishermen since its establishment in 1876. Its rich history aligns perfectly with the theme of hygge, a Danish concept emphasizing warmth, comfort, and simple pleasures.
Artisan Offerings and Local Delicacies
Visitors to the Christmas Hygge event can explore over 30 artisan stalls featuring a diverse range of handcrafted gifts. Shoppers will find everything from jewellery and fine art to textiles, candles, sustainable beauty products, and delectable baked goods. Each venue offers a unique shopping experience. Pilates Isle of Man, located on the quayside, combines wellness with festive charm, while House of Manannan provides a captivating cultural setting within its museum foyer. Meanwhile, Artreach Studios continues to serve as a creative hub for local artists and small businesses.
In addition to artisan crafts, attendees can enjoy culinary delights from local food vendors, including The Parish Pantry and Filbey’s Little Food Shack, enhancing the festive atmosphere with delicious offerings.
The event kicks off with a launch night on November 14, 2024, from 17:00 to 20:30, and continues on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:30 each day. It is important to note that Sailors Shelter will close early at 14:30 on Sunday.
