Local Musicians Release Runrig Cover to Support Highland Hospice
A new cover of Runrig’s beloved song “Every River” has been released by local musicians Joanne Ross and Scooty to raise funds for the Highland Hospice. The duo, members of the band John B’s Daughter, felt inspired to share their rendition after receiving overwhelming public support online. Their version has garnered nearly 60,000 views, prompting requests from fans to make it available for purchase.
Joanne Ross, a former winner of the Ness Factor talent competition, expressed their motivation for the release. “The feedback was incredible,” she said. “People stopped us in the street, telling us how beautiful the song was and asking us to release it.” The artists decided to seize the moment and contribute to a cause they deeply care about.
Highland Hospice plays a vital role in providing care for families across the Highlands, and Ross and Scooty wanted to give back through their music. “Whether it’s £1 or £10, every single pound truly helps,” Ross emphasized.
Wendy Morgan, the communications manager for Highland Hospice, shared her gratitude for the duo’s efforts. “We are so grateful to Joanne and Scooty for releasing such a beautiful song in aid of the hospice,” Morgan stated. “They performed it in our Inpatient Unit last week, and many of our nurses had tears in their eyes. It truly is beautiful, and we’d encourage anyone to donate to the hospice in return for the full version of the track.”
To access the complete version of “Every River,” supporters can donate any amount through the dedicated JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/page/joanne-ross-1. After making a donation, individuals can take a screenshot and email it to [email protected] to receive the downloadable song.
This initiative not only showcases the power of music to unite communities but also highlights the importance of supporting local health services. As the campaign continues to gain momentum, Ross and Scooty hope to inspire more individuals to contribute to the Highland Hospice’s essential work.
