Firmus Energy Announces Gas Price Decrease for Ten Towns Network

Gas prices are set to decrease across the Ten Towns Network, according to an announcement by firmus energy. Effective from October 1, 2025, this reduction will result in an average annual savings of £78 for households in the area. This follows a previous gas tariff reduction of 11.84% implemented in April.
Ryan Miskimmin, Sales Director at firmus energy Supply, expressed satisfaction with the announcement, stating, “We are pleased to share our second tariff reduction of the year and are always committed to passing on any savings to customers whenever it is possible for us to do so.” The company has engaged with both the Utility Regulator and the Consumer Council to facilitate this latest decrease of 7.86%.
Since April, the cumulative effect of these tariff reductions has lowered overall rates by almost 19%, equating to an average savings of £210 per household annually. Miskimmin highlighted the importance of these savings as consumers head into colder months, noting, “We know that these savings, coupled with the constant heat and instant hot water that natural gas provides, will be welcomed by Ten Towns customers.”
Overview of the Ten Towns Network
The Ten Towns Network encompasses a diverse range of locations, including Antrim, Armagh, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Banbridge, Coleraine, and Craigavon, which includes Lurgan and Portadown. Additional towns and villages across the region are also included. An announcement regarding potential changes in the Greater Belfast Network area is expected in the coming weeks, which covers notable areas such as Belfast, Lisburn, and Bangor.
For those considering switching to natural gas or seeking assistance with their bills or direct debit payments, firmus energy Supply has encouraged customers to contact their locally based Customer Services team at 0330 024 9000.
Consumer Council’s Response
The Consumer Council has welcomed this latest tariff reduction, with Karen Smyth, Director of Infrastructure and Sustainability, commenting on the broader implications. She stated, “We welcome this gas tariff decrease from firmus energy, as it indicates a slight downward curve in wholesale energy prices. However, energy prices are still well above pre-pandemic levels, and the energy market continues to remain very volatile due to ongoing global geopolitical concerns.”
Smyth highlighted the Consumer Council’s role in ensuring cost savings are passed quickly to consumers as wholesale prices decline. She also emphasized the importance of supporting consumers during times of price increases. “We know from our ongoing research that most consumers in Northern Ireland are still really worried about home energy prices. We urge anyone who is struggling to pay their energy bills or top-up their meters to contact their supplier directly as suppliers have indicated that they are keen to offer their customers help and support.”
For further advice on energy efficiency or financial support, the Consumer Council’s website provides a wealth of information. Consumers without internet access or those seeking additional assistance can reach out to the Consumer Council team at 0800 121 6022 or via email at [email protected].
This reduction in gas prices is a pivotal development for households in the Ten Towns Network as they prepare for the winter months ahead, and it reflects ongoing efforts to adapt to fluctuating energy markets.
