The renowned horse, Josh The Boss, is set to compete for the Wasdell Group Silver Trophy Handicap Hurdle during the DragonBet Welsh Racing Festival at Chepstow. Scheduled for Saturday, the race will feature eighteen runners and cover an extended distance of two miles and three furlongs, with the ground conditions expected to be good to soft in Monmouthshire.

As the Weekend Winners team analyses the race, they highlight strong contenders, including French Ship and Josh The Boss, who is tipped for success. Declan Rix, a member of the team, expressed confidence in Josh The Boss, noting that with jockey Jamie Nield’s 7lb claim, the horse is only 3lbs higher than last year’s winning weight. Rix remarked, “He won it in really good style,” and praised the horse’s recent form and jumping ability.

Rix elaborated on the potential of Josh The Boss, stating, “He looked just in great form with himself, loving life and out pricking his ears.” The horse’s capability to quicken from two out to one out during last year’s race was particularly impressive. He pointed out that the Twiston-Davies yard typically prepares their horses early in the season, which could be advantageous for Josh The Boss as he comes off a recent wind operation.

Another contender, Royal Infantry, was highlighted by Kate Tracey, who believes the horse has significant potential. This will be Royal Infantry’s handicap debut, and Tracey noted that he is running off a “very feasible mark.” She emphasized the horse’s strong record when fresh, as well as his previous accomplishments, including victories in both rules and stable debut earlier in the year. Tracey stated, “If he doesn’t go off favourite I won’t be surprised… he has a very good record fresh.”

Meanwhile, Sam Boswell pointed out the prospects of Thanksforthehelp, a horse trained by David Pipe and owned by JP McManus. Boswell noted that Thanksforthehelp had recently won at Punchestown and mentioned that the form of that race looks solid, with several horses behind him achieving success since. He remarked, “I still think he’s feasibly quite well handicapped back over here after that win.”

The race promises to be a thrilling contest, with multiple horses in contention for the Silver Trophy. Fans and punters alike will be watching closely as these competitors take to the track at Chepstow this weekend.
