Lewis Hamilton Mourns Loss of Beloved Dog Roscoe at 7
Lewis Hamilton has announced the death of his beloved dog, Roscoe, who passed away following a battle with pneumonia. The seven-time Formula One world champion shared the heartbreaking news on social media, explaining that he had been at Roscoe’s side during his final days. Hamilton had missed a tyre test event with his Ferrari team to care for his pet, highlighting the deep bond they shared.
On Monday, Hamilton confirmed that Roscoe had died the previous evening “in my arms.” He expressed his grief, stating, “After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe.” The emotional post continued with Hamilton reflecting on the impact Roscoe had on his life, calling him “an angel and true friend.”
Remembering Roscoe and Past Losses
Hamilton also took a moment to remember his other dog, Coco, who died in 2020. The 40-year-old athlete revealed that this was the first time he faced the difficult decision of ending a pet’s medical treatment, a situation he recognized many others have endured. He articulated the pain of such a loss, saying, “It is one of the most painful experiences, and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet.”
In his heartfelt tribute, Hamilton shared that having Roscoe in his life was one of his best decisions. He added, “Although it was so hard, having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return.” He thanked his fans for the love and support shown to Roscoe over the years, indicating how special that connection had been for both him and his dog.
Hamilton adopted Roscoe in 2013, shortly after joining the Mercedes team. Since then, Roscoe has been a familiar presence in the paddock and has accompanied Hamilton through many highs and lows in his racing career. Hamilton’s connection to his pets is well-known, often sharing moments from his life with them on social media.
A Challenging Season Ahead
As Hamilton grapples with this profound loss, he continues to navigate a challenging season with Ferrari. Despite being a 105-time race winner, the current campaign has not seen him reach the podium yet, a situation that adds further strain to his professional life. With the 2025 season still ongoing and seven of the 24 races remaining, Hamilton’s focus will shift to the upcoming Grand Prix in Singapore, scheduled for this weekend.
The emotional impact of Roscoe’s passing will undoubtedly stay with Hamilton as he prepares to face the challenges ahead both on and off the track.
