Passenger transport statistics for the third quarter have revealed a mixed performance across various transport sectors. According to data from Monstat, while road, local road, and airport traffic experienced growth, railway transport saw a significant decline.

In comparing the third quarter of this year to the same period last year, railway passenger transport decreased by 14.4%. In contrast, road transport increased by 0.2%, local road transport rose by 2.4%, and airport transport grew by an impressive 9.2%. This shift suggests a changing landscape in passenger mobility preferences, with more individuals opting for alternatives to rail travel.

Freight Transport Trends

The report further highlights trends in freight transport during the same period. Both railway and airport freight transport experienced declines, with reductions of 21.6% and 10.1%, respectively. Conversely, road transport recorded a modest growth of 1.2%, while overall freight traffic in ports increased by 4.1%.

Statistics indicate that the total amount of freight handled in ports during the third quarter was 9.7% higher than in the same quarter last year. However, the volume of manipulated freight decreased by 2.8%, as reported by Mina biznis.

The report also sheds light on vehicle registration figures. In the third quarter, the number of registered road motor and trailer vehicles reached 88,890, reflecting a 2.2% increase compared to the same period last year. However, the number of first-time registered road motor and trailer vehicles fell to 9,480, which represents a decrease of 7% year-on-year.

These statistics underscore shifting trends in transportation preferences, highlighting challenges faced by the railway sector while illustrating growth in road and airport travel. The data suggests that consumers are increasingly favoring road transport options, potentially influenced by convenience or changes in service offerings.
