Heavy Rains Prompt Orange Alert in Mumbai and Surrounding Regions

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and several surrounding areas in Maharashtra, including Palghar and Thane, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 30, 2023. The BMC has cautioned residents against traveling to coastal regions due to expected high tidal waves coupled with the intense rainfall forecasted for the coming days.

Residents in Mumbai should prepare for challenging weather conditions. The IMD predicts that the city will experience moderate to heavy rainfall on August 31, 2023, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius. Additionally, a yellow alert has been placed for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, highlighting the potential for significant rainfall.

The IMD has also issued a red alert for Raigad, where heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is anticipated at various locations. This warning underscores the seriousness of the weather conditions expected in the region.
