Joe Rogan Critiques Trump’s National Guard Deployment as Dangerous

Joe Rogan, a prominent podcaster and supporter of former President Donald Trump, has expressed serious concerns regarding the recent deployment of the National Guard in U.S. cities. During the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, which draws an average of 11 million listeners per episode, Rogan labeled the military’s presence in urban areas as a “dangerous precedent.”
Rogan highlighted the complexities of supporting Trump’s policies, noting that while he agrees with the president’s tougher border enforcement, he opposes the aggressive use of federal law enforcement against immigrants. “The military in the street, I think, is a dangerous precedent,” he stated, further criticizing the detaining of undocumented immigrants at locations such as Home Depot. “That’s not cool either,” he added, shedding light on the broader implications of such tactics.
In earlier statements, Rogan voiced his surprise at the scale of force utilized against immigrants, describing the Trump administration as “ripping parents out of their communities.” He had anticipated that the focus would be on criminals rather than the broader population of undocumented individuals. His recent remarks resonate with a growing number of critics concerned about the president’s use of executive power.
The deployment of National Guard members is part of Trump’s strategy to combat what he describes as crime-ridden cities and civil unrest. By invoking presidential powers to federalize state troops, he has faced scrutiny from various quarters. Polls indicate that a significant majority of Americans oppose the military’s involvement in domestic law enforcement, raising questions about the legality and ethics of such decisions.
State leaders have reacted strongly against Trump’s actions. JB Pritzker, the Governor of Illinois, and Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, have filed lawsuits aimed at curbing the federal government’s military presence in their states. Federal judges have also expressed concerns, with some ruling against the administration’s tactics, citing violations of the Posse Comitatus Act. This law restricts the military’s involvement in domestic law enforcement operations.
Following the deployment of National Guard members to Los Angeles this summer in response to anti-immigration protests, a federal judge criticized the administration, stating that its actions were unwarranted. Despite this, the Trump administration has pushed forward with plans to send troops to other cities, including Portland, Oregon, Chicago, Illinois, and Memphis, Tennessee, under the guise of maintaining order.
Critics, including some Democratic leaders like Pritzker, have accused Trump of inciting chaos through his federal law enforcement strategies. Reports have surfaced of clashes between troops and civilians, heightening tensions in affected areas. In response to these developments, nationwide protests, branded as the “No Kings” demonstrations, are scheduled for the weekend. This will be the second round of protests, following peaceful demonstrations that occurred in June 2024 against Trump’s stringent immigration policies.
As the situation develops, Rogan’s remarks and the planned protests serve as indicators of the public’s mounting frustration with the administration’s approach to immigration and law enforcement. The implications of deploying military forces within U.S. cities continue to raise critical discussions about civil rights and the balance of power within the federal government.
