Students from Tongue Primary School showcased their creativity by participating in a logo design competition for the newly established North Sutherland Community Forestry Trust. The competition took place in the year 2000, aimed at involving local youth in the community’s environmental initiatives.

After careful evaluation, the trust announced that pupils Liam Mackay and Hugh Mackay were declared joint winners of the competition. Their designs stood out for their creativity and relevance to the trust’s mission of promoting sustainable forestry in the region.

The winning logos will undergo further refinement by a graphic artist, who will adapt them for use across various platforms. These include all official stationery and promotional materials for the trust, ensuring that the young designers’ work reaches a wider audience.

This initiative not only highlights the importance of community engagement in environmental stewardship but also encourages children to develop their artistic talents. The North Sutherland Community Forestry Trust aims to foster a sense of responsibility towards local forests and natural resources among the younger generation.
