A woman was transported to a hospital following a critical medical emergency at Keele Services on the M6 southbound. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were dispatched to the scene after reports of the incident at approximately 19:51 on August 19, 2023.

Upon arrival, paramedics encountered bystanders who were already providing first aid to the woman. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire responded to the call. The quick actions of the public were vital in the initial care of the patient.

The spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that the woman was receiving basic life support from bystanders when emergency personnel arrived. Following this initial care, ambulance staff began administering advanced life support before the woman was taken by land ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.

In a social media post, Staffordshire Police’s road crime team expressed their gratitude to the staff at Keele Services and the members of the public who rendered assistance prior to the arrival of emergency services. They noted, “Last night we assisted @OFFICIALWMAS & @MAA_Charity at Keele Services with a critical medical emergency on the southbound.”

The rapid response from both the public and emergency services highlights the importance of community involvement in medical emergencies, potentially making a significant difference in patient outcomes.
