A 15-year-old British tourist is currently in critical condition after being discovered floating unconscious in a swimming pool at a rural tourism site in northern Portugal. The incident occurred in the village of Aborim, located in the municipality of Barcelos, which has a population of approximately 900 residents. Emergency services were alerted shortly before 17:00 on the previous day, and the teenager was transported to Braga Hospital for urgent medical care.

The boy was reportedly found in the pool by family members, who immediately called for help. Firefighters and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene, where the teenager was stabilized before being taken to the hospital. Local authorities, including the GNR police force, have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event.

Emergency responders, including volunteer firefighters from Barcelos, have not been authorized to release further details about the incident. Attempts to contact the GNR police for comments were unsuccessful.

This incident follows a series of tragic events involving British tourists in Portugal. Last month, two friends, King Edonmi and Mo Lisau, were found deceased in a hotel pool in Albufeira. Preliminary investigations suggested that the pool’s design, combined with the victims’ inability to swim, likely contributed to their deaths.

Additionally, a British family faced a fatal accident shortly after arriving in Portugal in early August. Domingos Serrano, his wife Maria, and their twin sons, Afonso and Domingos, died in a collision on the IP2 main road as they traveled to Mourao. Their 19-year-old Polish girlfriend, known only as Veronica, and a 26-year-old local, Ruben Goncalves, were also killed in the tragic crash.

As investigations continue, the local community remains shaken by these recent incidents involving tourists. Authorities are expected to provide further updates regarding the 15-year-old’s condition and the ongoing inquiries into these events.
