Bruno Fernandes and Three United Players Miss Training Ahead of Liverpool Clash
Manchester United’s preparations for their upcoming match against Liverpool at Anfield on February 4, 2024, faced a setback as four players missed full training on Thursday. Among those absent were Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Matheus Cunha, and Amad. The players were granted additional time off by manager Ruben Amorim due to their recent international commitments.
Although some players who received this extra time off did report to Carrington for light recovery work, they did not participate in the full training session. This decision comes as United look to build on their recent momentum following a crucial 2-0 victory against Sunderland prior to the international break. Amorim is eager to secure back-to-back league wins for the first time during his tenure.
Injury Updates and Player Recovery
In addition to the absences from training, United continues to manage several injuries within the squad. Noussair Mazraoui has not featured since September 20 due to an unspecified injury, but there is hope for his return in the near future. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez remains sidelined as he recovers from a serious knee injury sustained during a match against Crystal Palace earlier this season.
Martinez’s rehabilitation is progressing, but club officials stress that they will not rush his return to the matchday squad. His injury was confirmed to be related to his cruciate ligament, which adds caution to the recovery process.
Casemiro recently spoke about Martinez’s dedication to his recovery, stating, “Licha is on the final straight. He is a soldier who works so hard. He is always in the gym working hard.” He expressed admiration for Martinez’s work ethic, highlighting that the defender is consistently seen training, even during long hours.
Looking Ahead to the Liverpool Match
As the team gears up for the high-stakes clash against Liverpool, Amorim’s strategic decisions will be crucial. The rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool remains one of the most anticipated fixtures in the football calendar. Fans are eagerly awaiting the match, which promises to deliver intense competition and excitement.
With several key players unavailable, Amorim faces the challenge of adapting his lineup to ensure the team remains competitive. The absence of experienced players like Fernandes and Casemiro could significantly impact United’s performance, making the upcoming match even more critical.
As anticipation builds for this encounter, Manchester United will be hoping to capitalize on their recent positive results and maintain their momentum against one of their fiercest rivals. Fans can expect an action-packed match on Sunday as both teams vie for crucial points in the league standings.
