Erling Haaland Praises Pep Guardiola’s Work Ethic at Man City
Erling Haaland has recently highlighted the remarkable work ethic of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. As Guardiola approaches his tenth season with the club, his record includes six Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy, two FA Cups, and four League Cups. Despite these achievements, Haaland emphasizes that Guardiola remains driven to attain even greater success.
During an appearance on the Rest is Football podcast, Haaland, who chose City over other giants like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, expressed his admiration for Guardiola’s dedication. “He works harder than everyone. He’s the hardest working in the club,” Haaland stated. He noted that Guardiola is often the first to arrive and the last to leave, which he believes is a significant factor behind the manager’s success.
Haaland emphasized Guardiola’s intensity and passion for football, describing it as a blend of dedication and motivation that fuels his approach to the game. The Norwegian forward’s insights provide a glimpse into the culture at City, where hard work is paramount.
As of now, City is actively pursuing leaders Arsenal in the Premier League after a challenging start to the season, having lost two of their first three matches. A key contributor to the team’s efforts is Haaland himself, who has netted an impressive 20 goals and provided three assists in just 20 appearances across all competitions this season.
In January, Haaland committed his future to Manchester City by signing a substantial nine-year contract, which will keep him at the club until 2034. This long-term deal reflects his confidence in the direction of the club and its management.
Guardiola’s own future was a topic of speculation last season. However, he quelled any doubts by signing a two-year contract extension in December 2024, ensuring his role at the club until 2027. Haaland expressed his belief that Guardiola would remain with City, stating, “I was confident the Catalan would remain in situ.”
Reflecting on his choice to join City, Haaland noted that conversations with club executives played a significant role in his decision. “I wanted to be a part of the plan in the next years,” he explained. He appreciates the opportunity for personal and professional growth that Manchester offers, particularly in a country where football is deeply ingrained in its culture.
Haaland also mentioned the importance of Guardiola’s influence on his decision to join City. “Pep was a big reason why I came to City,” he admitted, highlighting the unique experience of working with a manager known for his special methods and tireless work ethic.
As the season progresses, Haaland’s insights into Guardiola’s approach may prove instrumental for City as they aim to reclaim their position at the top of the Premier League. With both the player and manager committed to achieving more, the future at Manchester City looks promising.
