Father Dies From Grief Following Daughter’s Tragic Murder
A father has reportedly died from grief following the tragic murder of his 12-year-old daughter, Lola Daviet, whose body was discovered in a trunk after a horrific crime. Lola was last seen returning home from school on October 14, 2022, and was found dead just hours later at her parents’ workplace. The accused, Dahbia Benkired, a 24-year-old Algerian woman living in the same building, faces charges of raping, torturing, and murdering the young girl.
During the trial, disturbing details emerged regarding the crime. Prosecutors allege that Benkired lured Lola to her apartment, where she attacked her with scissors and a box cutter, resulting in gruesome injuries. Reports indicate that Lola’s head was partially severed, and her mouth and nose were wrapped in tape, leading to suffocation. The court heard that Benkired forced the young girl to undress and perform sexual acts before her death.
Family’s Heartbreak and Legal Proceedings
On the second day of the trial, Delphine Daviet, Lola’s mother, revealed that her husband, Johan Daviet, turned to alcohol after their daughter’s murder. “He drank from morning to night,” she stated, expressing her sorrow over the loss of her husband, who died in February 2023. Delphine described Johan as being tormented by his grief, stating, “He died of grief.”
In a poignant display of love, Johan left a letter on Benkired’s apartment, expressing his anguish and longing for his daughter. He wrote, “My darling, I still don’t understand why there was so much cruelty and barbarity towards you.” The note concluded with, “Your dad, who loves you for life.”
Lola’s brother spoke in court on behalf of the family, urging for the truth to be revealed. “We would like you to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth,” he implored.
Chilling Evidence Presented in Court
The trial has unveiled shocking evidence, including a video that allegedly shows Benkired dragging a trunk believed to contain Lola’s body into a bar. Medical experts testified about the nature of Lola’s injuries, with a physician detailing that she suffered over 30 wounds to her neck and back before asphyxiating. “There is physical, psychological, and moral suffering,” the doctor stated, as images of the injuries were displayed in court.
Further details revealed that the digits ‘1’ and ‘0’ were inscribed on Lola’s feet, adding to the harrowing nature of the case. The doctor described Lola’s injuries as visible traumatic damage, including hemorrhagic trauma to her private parts and a significant wound to her face.
Benkired had moved to France at the age of 14 in 2013 and was facing deportation due to overstaying her student visa prior to Lola’s murder. The court proceedings have drawn significant attention, highlighting not only the tragedy of Lola’s death but also the devastating impact on her family.
As the trial continues, the community and family members await justice for the young girl whose life was violently cut short.
