Iceland Launches Unique Prawn Engagement Ring for Christmas
Iceland, the popular frozen food supermarket, has introduced a distinctive Christmas engagement ring inspired by its famed King Prawn Ring. Valued at £5,000, this unique piece of jewellery is crafted in 18-carat rose gold and features a striking red natural ruby at its heart, all designed to resemble the iconic party snack.
The supermarket has collaborated with renowned jeweller Peter Jackson to create what it calls “one of the world’s most expensive prawn rings.” This handcrafted piece is not available for purchase; instead, it will be awarded to one lucky individual planning a romantic proposal this festive season. Interested participants must submit their proposal plans via email to [email protected] by 11:59 PM on December 14.
According to research conducted by Iceland, December is the prime month for engagements, with 80 percent of respondents indicating that Christmas Day is the most magical time to propose. The competition encourages entrants to write a brief description, limited to 250 words, detailing their proposal and why they deserve the ring. The winner will receive the ring in time for Christmas, though specific terms and conditions apply.
An Iceland spokesperson highlighted the significance of the King Prawn Ring in British festive traditions, stating, “Our Prawn Ring has been the star of Britain’s Christmas buffets for decades; it’s practically a national treasure.” The spokesperson added that this initiative aims to transform a beloved party food into an unforgettable piece of jewellery.
Peter Jackson expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting, “We’ve had some incredible collaborations over the years, but nothing quite like this.” He described the intricate process of creating the ring, from initial sketches to meticulous hand-setting of each detail. Jackson emphasized that the ring is designed to make a statement, remarking, “It’s the ultimate Christmas catch.”
All entries must be submitted by the specified deadline, as late submissions will be disqualified. For more information and full competition terms, participants are encouraged to visit the Iceland website. This innovative approach to seasonal engagement rings is set to capture the hearts of couples looking to make their proposals memorable this Christmas.
