Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner File Defamation Suit Against Ray J

Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, have initiated a defamation lawsuit against singer Ray J, following his allegations that they might be implicated in racketeering activities. The lawsuit, filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, responds to comments made by Ray J, who previously dated Kardashian and is known for his involvement in a controversial sex tape with her over two decades ago.

The legal action arises from statements Ray J made during a documentary about Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faced, but was acquitted of, racketeering conspiracy charges last year. In the documentary, Ray J suggested that “racketeering charges against the Kardashians would be appropriate” and expressed skepticism about their integrity, stating, “If you told me that the Kardashians were being charged for racketeering, I might believe it.”

In addition to the documentary remarks, the lawsuit highlights comments made by Ray J during a livestream on September 24, 2023. In that session, he claimed, “The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy.” He further warned that “the feds is coming” for the Kardashians, asserting that his allegations were serious and claiming they were involved in more wrongdoing than Combs.

Kardashian and Jenner categorically deny any involvement in illegal activities. Their lawsuit emphasizes that “no such federal investigation exists” and asserts that no law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings against them. The complaint outlines that “no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations,” branding Ray J’s claims as “blatantly false” and “calculated falsehoods.”

In their filing, the plaintiffs argue that Ray J is attempting to exploit their fame for his own gain, stating, “Unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago, Ray J has repeatedly sought to attach himself to Plaintiffs’ names.” The lawsuit seeks both actual and punitive damages for the distress caused by these statements.

Attorney Alex Spiro, representing Kardashian and Jenner, described the allegations as serious and unfounded. In a statement to Page Six, he noted, “Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before, nor have they been distracted by noise, but this false and serious allegation left no choice.”

As of now, Ray J has not publicly responded to the legal action. The outcome of this lawsuit could have significant implications for both parties, especially considering the high-profile nature of the individuals involved and the potential impact on their respective public images.
